Transitions

Posted April 10, 2011

Spring.  A time of transition.  In the natural world, snow is beginning to melt, trees are starting to bud and as the days get longer, the weather is heating up.

For me, it means its almost time to hang up the skis and start riding bikes and climbing mountains.  This weekend (and next weekend also) was very much a "transition" weekend.

I spent Saturday skiing with my son at Mount Washington and today we were course marshals for the Cumberland XC race of the Island Cup.  While being able to ski and mountain bike in the same weekend is pretty cool, I for one am glad I didn't race today...can you say muddy!

I have to be honest, I'm going to fight the end of winter pretty hard this year.  I've been having way too much fun skiing and I'm not quite ready to hang it up yet.  Besides, if I want to reach my goal of 40 ski days, I have to hit the slopes at least 7 more times!

It was wetter than this looks...

Post race everyone hiding from the rain...

I still have some winter "tasks" to complete.  Finishing my review of the G3 Onyx binding and the Dakine Poacher ski pack to mention just two.  I also want to do at least one overnight ski tour - have to get my new Arc'Teryx back pack broken in!

So, I guess you can all look forward to more mayhem, more gear and more fun.  WOOT!

Muddy Goodness!
