Pole Whacking

Posted January 23, 2011

Alright.  If you've been paying attention and done your homework, you will know exactly what the title of this post is referring to.  If not, go back and read my A.S.D. post and do the assigned homework, then come back.

OK.

Done?

Good.

Now, this weekend Tree and I went back to Mt. Cain.  There was no epic pow.  As a matter of fact, Saturday was Van Isle Battleship Armour and Sunday was kinda rainy on top of 4 inches that fell Saturday night.  But you know what, it was still awesome!

For me, it was all about mastering the McConky ball-grab spread eagle.  I pretty much had it perfected by the end of the weekend.  Tree worked on getting to know her new Rossi S-3's better (and I have to be honest, I had trouble keeping up...).  We met some new people, including Philip Stone who has written some excellent books if you are into exploring the Vancouver Island back country.  You can look up all of the books up at the Wild Isle website.

I have also made a decision.  I've been toying with the idea of getting either a DSLR or a full on "pro-sumer" video camera.  Well, I've realized that for practicality and affordability a water-proof point and shoot would get more use, and thus produce more content in terms of videos and photos.  Therefore, by the end of the week, expect to see some pics and vid taken with whatever shutter-machine I end up with.

Until then, keep your tips pointed downhill and the rubber on the trail.
